Those were the days …

Pro athletes have been hocking wares for a very long time.   And they continue to do it today.  However, today, it seems as if directors have taken the acting out of the equation. Rarely do you see the athlete talk and act at the same time.  Usually voice overs.  And if they do talk and act, it’s very brief.  Back in the day, bad acting was completely overlooked.  For instance, check out this gem: a 1990 Schick commercial starring the Lakers’ inside trio of Vlade Divac, Mychal Thompson and AC Green. I can tell you there was not a class credit from Julliard amongst the three of them:
