The United States Virgin Islands' Early Childhood Professional Development System Plan: Recommendations to the Early Childhood Professional Advisory Committee, July 2013
Prepared by the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Early Childhood Workforce Systems Initiative for the U.S. Virgin Islands’ (USVI) Early Childhood Advisory Committee, the report is based on recommendations from a USVI cross-sector leadership team and a 40-member stakeholder group. The appendices contain two sections of particular interest:
- Appendix 1:ÌýProposed Core Knowledge and Competences for the USVI Pathways to Excellence uses theÌý51³Ô¹ÏÍø Standards for Early Childhood Professional PreparationÌýas the basic framework and primary source for professional standards. It demonstrates how 51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s national standards can be adapted for state/territory use.

A Policy Framework for an Early Childhood Iowa Professional Development System, 2009
The Iowa professional development system plan encompasses four early childhood sectors: early learning; special needs/early intervention; family support; and health, mental health and nutrition. The plan offers a model for using theÌýµþ±ô³Ü±ð±è°ù¾±²Ô³Ù’sÌýsix policy areas and four policy principles across sectors to design an integrated professional development system.

Rhode Island’s plan focuses on integration of policy areas and principles across all early learning sectors and standards for programs, professionals and children’s early learning. For each policy area, they have identified characteristics of an ideal system for Rhode Island and provided both an assessment of their current status and recommendations.
